'Noisy' road to be rebuilt under £27bn project
BBCTwo major roads in northern Lincolnshire will be "fully reconstructed" as part of a £27bn government plan.
The Department for Transport said the investment over the next five years would "upgrade and future-proof England's roads".
It includes rebuilding the A180 between the Brocklesby Interchange and the Barnetby Interchange and a section of the M180 between junctions two and three.
Money will also be spent on repairing two bridges on the M62 at Goole and Airmyn in East Yorkshire.
Roads and Buses Minister Simon Lightwood said the project would be "transformational" for motorists.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the concrete A180 dual carriageway, a key route to Immingham Docks and the Port of Grimsby, is notorious for its noisy surface.
The government funding, known as the Road Investment Strategy (RIS3), will allow National Highways to resurface almost a quarter of the motorway and major A-road network.
National Highways executive director Elliot Shaw said: "This major investment will help boost economic growth by improving and maintaining motorways and major A roads which keep the country moving.
"When roads are well maintained, businesses and communities feel the benefit, so this funding enables us to tackle an ageing network head-on and keep drivers safe."
