Stabbing victim 'remains in a serious condition'

The condition of a man who was taken to hospital after being stabbed has improved but remains serious, police have said.

Officers were called just before 22:15 GMT on Sunday to Mortimer Road in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, after reports the man was attacked.

The victim's injuries were initially said to be life-threatening, but Suffolk Police has told the BBC that his condition is now "serious but stable".

After the attack, five male suspects wearing dark clothing and face coverings reportedly fled the scene. No arrests have yet been made.
