Terror suspect remains in custody

A man arrested on suspicion of attempting to join a terror organisation remains in police custody.

The 21-year-old man was detained in the Horfield area of Bristol on Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to join the Islamic State group, also known as Daesh.

Avon and Somerset Police said a suspicious item found during a search of a residential property in Francombe Grove was "assessed and removed" by bomb disposal experts on Wednesday.

The operation is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing South East with support from Avon and Somerset Police and Counter Terrorism Policing South West.
