Four people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man suffered serious injuries in a stabbing.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was called to reports of an assault in Beechwood Close, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, at about 23:00 GMT on Thursday.

Two men, 45 and 52, were arrested by police the following day on suspicion of wounding with intent, and have both been bailed.

Following a raid on a property in the town on Tuesday morning - which the force said involved a stand-off that lasted several hours and saw a police drone damaged - two men aged 18 and 19, and two 23-year-old men were arrested.

As well as being held on suspicion of attempted murder, all of the men except the 19-year-old were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The 18-year-old and one of the 23-year-olds were also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

Det Insp Ian Smith said the raid, which involved firearms officers, followed "extensive inquiries" and he thanked officers who attended for their efforts.

He added: "We've now made six arrests as part of our investigation but would like to reiterate that our inquiries are still very much ongoing.

"As such, we'd once again ask that anyone who knows anything about what happened - whether that's something they've seen or heard - please share this with us."
