A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in an alleyway in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Nottinghamshire Police said the man, who is in his 40s, was attacked close to a cashpoint in Low Street at about 11:40 GMT on Monday.

A drill bit is thought to have been used as the weapon, the force added.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in police custody.

The victim's injuries are not thought to be life-altering or life-threatening, the force said.

Det Sgt Millie Gillett said: "We believe this was an isolated incident and hope people in the community welcome the arrest and our rapid response."
