Walker fractures leg after slipping on acorn
Keswick Mountain Rescue TeamA walker had to be rescued by a mountain rescue team after they slipped on an acorn and broke their leg.
The person suffered a "significant leg injury" when they fell on the lakeside path in Otterbield Bay, Derwentwater, at 14:18 GMT on Saturday, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) said.
The team, which was made up of 16 volunteers, splinted up the walker and removed them from the lakeside so that they could be transferred to hospital.
KMRT said the team was "in disbelief at the stoic resolve of the casualty".
