Walkers rescued from summit in 'horrible' weather
Stephen Knowles Photography/GettyTwo walkers had to be stretchered to safety from the summit of Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales during "particularly horrible" conditions, said rescuers.
A man and a woman, aged in their 30s, became stuck at the top of the mountain at about 17:00 GMT on Sunday, with both "extremely cold" and suffering from hypothermia when rescue teams reached them.
The Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) said a helicopter was sent to the location but could not land due to high winds and a lack of visibility.
One of the group had an ankle injury, with volunteers carrying the pair down to ambulances in Chapel-le-Dale by about 23:00.
The CRO said it was alerted by North Yorkshire Police, with Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association also attending the rescue.
A CRO spokesperson described the weather as "particularly horrible", with "gale force winds, freezing temperatures and driving rain".
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, with two patients treated at the location.
The CRO spokesperson added: "Check the weather and venture out safely."
