Woman rescued after 33ft mobility scooter fall
KMRTA woman in a mobility scooter had to be rescued after falling backwards almost 33ft (10m) down a forest slope.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) said the woman was with a friend, also on a scooter, at Latrigg, in the Lake District, on Sunday when her brake failed.
This caused the vehicle to roll back off a road trapping her underneath.
A spokesperson for KMRT said: "Miraculously she was unharmed as she was fortunate enough to end up in the footwell area between the seat and handlebars."
Cumbria Police officers were first on the scene and managed to pull the scooter off the woman before the mountain rescue took her to a waiting ambulance, KMRT said.
The team then retrieved the scooter.
The North West Ambulance Service said the woman was treated at the scene, but did not need hospital treatment.
