Town centre improvement work under way
South Kesteven District CouncilWork has begun to improve parts of Grantham town centre.
South Kesteven District Council said it included the installation of new planters, benches and power in Market Place which would allow events to take place without the need for noisy generators.
The improvements, which also include new flower beds, water features and benches in St Peter's Hill, were expected to take several weeks to complete.
The authority was awarded £5.2m of government funding in 2021 to support regeneration projects in the town.
South Kesteven District CouncilCouncillor Ashley Baxter, leader of the council and cabinet member for finance and economic development, said: "This investment from the Future High Streets Fund is helping us to make practical improvements that will benefit residents, businesses and visitors.
"Providing power in the Market Place will create more opportunities for events and support our market traders, while the improvements at St Peter's Hill will create a safer, more attractive and accessible environment for everyone," he added.
No road or full pavement closures were planned in either area to keep disruption to a minimum, council officials said.
Work in the Market Place will be paused from 20 March to allow for the annual Grantham Mid-Lent Fair to take place, the council said.
