Essential works are taking place on Nottingham's tram network in May

Replacement buses will be in use while a section of Nottingham's tram network is closed for "essential works", operator NET has warned.

The sections between Old Market Square and The Forest will be out of use between 24 and 31 May.

Stops at High School, Nottingham Trent University and Royal Centre will not be in use while the work to replace a section of track takes place.

NET said normal service will resume on 1 June.

Joanne Smedley, head of service delivery at NET, said: "Minimising disruption is key, and with our rail replacement bus service, we hope to reduce the impact on travellers who often use the stops that will be closed during this time.

"We'd like to thank our customers and the wider public for their cooperation as we complete this essential maintenance work to keep our trams running safely."
