The Tourism Management Board said it wanted to further enhance local knowledge

A scheme has been launched to encourage members of the local tourism sector to become ambassadors for Guernsey.

The Tourism Management Board (TMB), working alongside VisitGuernsey, said it wanted to further enhance local knowledge and the level of customer service to those in visitor-facing roles.

The TMB said the training programme was designed to be delivered alongside existing training and could be adapted to different products or services.

Charlie Walker, co-chair of the board, said training new Guernsey Ambassadors "should benefit our whole industry".

'Encouraging return trips'

"Every touch point should be a positive one, encouraging return trips and recommending the islands to friends and family," she added.

VisitGuernsey will also offer the opportunity to join online or in-person training sessions.

Ambassador badges can be collected from the Visitor Information Centre once the scheme is completed, the TMB said.

It added businesses would also be able to use a digital version of the badge within their own marketing and communications.
