MFR had broadcast from the site since the early 1980s.

The former radio studios of Moray Firth Radio (MFR) has been sold, with a Highland creative company taking over the premises.

Inverness based Story + Stage has acquired the building on the city's Scorguie Place after it was placed on the market last year for offers over £325,000.

Radio output from the site ended in late 2024 following a decision by MFR's parent company Bauer Media.

Story + Stage, which specialises in video production, film-making and corporate events, said the building will now take on a fresh role in the community.

Programmes on MFR had been broadcast from the studios since the early 1980s.

Last March, Bauer announced it was to close the site, alongside the studios of sister station Northsound.

The company said it was moving to a mixture of remote working and shifts from a production centre in Glasgow.

The announcement came after Bauer had already opted to drop the breakfast shows from both stations.

Morning output on MFR, Northsound 1 and Tay FM was replaced by Edinburgh-based Boogie in the Morning last January.

Local teams in Aberdeen and Inverness still provide local news bulletins and sport coverage.
