This is the 67th inquest to be opened into former patients of jailed surgeon Ian Paterson

An inquest has been opened into the death of another patient of the jailed breast cancer surgeon Ian Paterson.

Catherine Bowker, 65, a retired telephonist from Birmingham, died in 2016 of metastatic breast cancer at the John Taylor Hospice in the city.

The hearing at Birmingham and Solihull Coroner's Court was adjourned to a later date.

Inquests are being heard to establish whether former patients of the disgraced surgeon died an unnatural death as a result of his care and treatment.

The coroner, Judge Richard Foster, is examining the deaths of 67 women.

Paterson was jailed in 2017 after being convicted of wounding patients by way of botched and unnecessary operations and given a 20-year prison sentence.
