Essential tram maintenance is planned in Nottingham following historic damage by severe flooding, Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has said.

All stops along the Clifton route, between Queens Walk and Clifton South Park & Ride, will be closed on 24 and 25 January, as the work takes place.

NET said it would be replacing track ballast at Wilford Lane and doing maintenance work along the Clifton line.

During the work, a temporary bus replacement service will operate between Queens Walk and Clifton South Park & Ride, with normal tram services expected to resume on 26 January.

NET said a road closure would also be required at Wilford Lane, so a diversion will be in place for vehicles, while pedestrians will be provided with a route around the work site.

Sarah Turner, managing director at NET, said: "We encourage customers who regularly rely on travelling along the affected route to visit our website where they can view our dedicated maintenance page for more information, or contact us through our live chat function on our website if they have any questions.

"We'd like to thank our customers for their patience and co-operation during this time."
