Wolverhampton GP surgery to move to new location
GoogleA GP surgery in Wolverhampton will move to a new location at the end of March.
Coalway Road Surgery, which has 4,726 registered patients, will relocate to Warstones Health Centre on Pinfold Grove.
The new site, 0.7 miles away from the current surgery, is a three-minute drive or 12-minute walk from the previous location and served by the number 2 bus route.
However, some patients have raised concerns about the impact on those who find it difficult to travel and about increased waiting times at the new location.
The surgery is run by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, but the relocation was approved by the Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB), which commissions GP services in the area.
The ICB said it had "considered all patient feedback" during public meetings before approving the move, having first consulted patients in July 2025.
Improved accessibility
Managers added the current premises needed significant work and the new site would offer improved facilities.
The existing team of GPs, nurses and other clinicians will move to Warstones Health Centre, meaning patients will continue to see the same healthcare professionals.
The trust said the new location would also offer phlebotomy and anti-coagulant services on site, as well as improved accessibility including disabled parking, hearing loops and entrance ramps.
The surgery's last day at its current Coalway Road premises is expected to be Friday 27 March.
Patients who are happy with the transfer do not need to take any action, the ICB said.
Those who would prefer to register with a different practice can find options on the NHS website or by calling 0300 311 2233.
