Residents in two Lincolnshire villages are without a GP surgery after it closed unexpectedly due to the removal of its Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration.

The Cliff Villages Medical Practice, which serves the villages of Navenby and Waddington, has not given an estimated date for reopening.

On Thursday, the NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) said the closure was "temporary" and added it was working with the practice to help it reopen.

A statement on the Lincolnshire ICB website said: "CQC registration is a legal requirement for providing NHS services. This removal is due to administrative reasons."

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, patients have been told postponed appointments will be rearranged, and medicine which has already been ordered can be collected as usual.

A statement on the practice's website said: "All appointments already held will be rearranged. There is no requirement to register with a new practice.

"Please be assured, we are still doing our best for our patients and we will keep you as informed as we can."

They said patients with urgent health needs should contact either 111, 999, or a pharmacist as appropriate.
