A fire at a Wolverhampton recycling centre was caused by three lithium-ion batteries.

West Midlands Fire Service said it was called to an outbuilding at the centre on Lincoln Street.

The batteries were moved outside and placed in a salt water bath, the service said.

At its height, four engines were on the scene, which has since been scaled back to one. Residents and businesses nearby were advised to keep windows and doors closed while crews were at the scene.
