A van driver suffered "potentially serious injuries" when his vehicle overturned on the M5 in Worcestershire, closing three of four lanes on Thursday morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene at about 06:40 GMT.

The incident, which has since been cleared, affected the northbound carriageway between junction six and five, with queues stretching back seven miles, according to National Highways.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said the injured man in his 50s was "released" from his van by fire crews before being "handed over to the care of the ambulance service". He was taken to hospital for treatment.
