Listed Victorian building to become flats
LDRSAn historic building in Bradford is to be converted into apartments after councillors backed development proposals.
Built in 1864, the four-storey property at 11-13 Currer Street will be renovated to create 16 one-bed flats.
Developer Mabs Hussain said the project would "secure a viable future" for the building, which has been empty for more than two years.
Situated in the city's Little Germany area, the property was originally used as commercial space during the district's thriving wool and textile era.
The Local Democracy Reporting Scheme said the Victorian warehouse and office was designed by acclaimed architect Eli Milnes with "palazzo style" seen across the city.
Council conservation Officer Jon Ackroyd said the Currer Street building made an "important contribution" to the conservation area.
He said: "The submission information indicates there are no elements of significance to the interior of the property due to previous office use and fit-out.
"The application suggests that no external changes are intended."
The council granted permission for the work on the condition work should begin within three years.
