Plan to turn pub into ice cream factory approved
GoogleA former pub is to be converted into an ice cream factory.
Planning officers at Bradford Council have approved an application by S & R Dairy to turn the ground floor of the Mill Lane pub into a food manufacturing business.
The building which has been empty for about four years, is located in an industrial area of the city, between Manchester Road and Wakefield Road, known as the Bowling Employment Zone.
The application said the development would create eight full time jobs.
During its history, it has been a Royal Air Force Association site and had a classic car installed on its roof for many years.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the upper floors of the building are in residential use.
Planning officers said: "The change of use is considered to comply with the objectives of the Bowling Employment Zone designation, introducing an active employment generating use and supporting continued economic activity in the area.
"The proposal would maintain and enhance the employment function of the site, contributing positively to the overall vitality and intended purpose of the designated employment zone."
One condition of the approval is that the business can only open between 09:00 and 18:00.
