Nine dead dogs were found at the kennels, near Shifnal, according to police

Nine dead dogs were found at a boarding kennels, said police who visited following concerns about the welfare of animals on the site.

They said officers gained entry to the Hatton Boarding Kennels in Shifnal, Shropshire, on Thursday, after they were contacted on Wednesday.

Police came across the canine bodies as well as three cats which were alive.

The bodies were taken to a vets' surgery and the cats were taken to a charity, West Mercia Police said. A spokesperson said there was currently no further police action but the RSPCA had been informed. The BBC has attempted to contact the boarding kennels.
