Services across the network have now resumed

Tram services have resumed after Nottingham Express Transit (NET) was affected by "network-wide" power and communications issues.

The tram operator cancelled all services on Saturday morning and said the disruption followed damage to overhead lines on Thursday.

The damage left services unable to run between certain stops on Friday and NET said engineers had worked through the night to try to fix the issue but, on Saturday, announced it had "no tram services operating at any of our stops across the network".

At about 15:00 GMT, NET said services were running to all stops, adding passengers may have "some longer wait times".

Joanne Smedley, head of service delivery at NET, apologised for the disruption.

She said: "We'd like to apologise to all our customers for the disruption and inconvenience caused by today's power and communications issue.

"Following an investigation into the cause of the issues by our engineers, we now know the reason for the fault was due to an electrical failure with one of our customer communications channels.

"This then tripped our other systems, resulting in a loss of communications with our trams. However, this has now been fixed."
