Alfonso Sible was found fatally stabbed beside The Wheatsheaf pub in Ewell

The man found fatally stabbed near a Surrey pub has been named by police.

Officers were called to the scene near The Wheatsheaf pub on Kingston Road, Ewell, at about 15:30 GMT on 9 December following reports that a man with stab wounds had been found in an alleyway.

"Despite the best efforts of police, paramedics, and members of the public, the man was pronounced dead at the scene," a police spokesperson said.

He has now been formally identified as 23-year-old Alfonso Sibley also known as Alfie.

A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, has been charged with murder.

He is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Monday.

A second 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, and a 20-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of murder and have since been released on police bail while enquiries continue, police said.

Police continue to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
