Surrey Police said the dispersal order in Guildford will begin on Sunday morning

A dispersal order will be in place in a town for most of Sunday in an attempt to deter criminal or antisocial behaviour.

Surrey Police said the dispersal order in Guildford, will begin at 10:00 BST and run to 23:59.

The area covered by the order is the centre of the town, including the train station, the High Street and Bridge Street.

There will be extra patrols while the dispersal order is in place.

Insp Blaine Rafferty said: "This dispersal order is intended to ensure the safety of visitors to Guildford this weekend and has been authorised following ongoing reports of antisocial behaviour in the town over the last few weekends.

"Although a rise in antisocial behaviour is not uncommon as we approach the warmer months, we know how disruptive it can be and are working closely with our partners to manage the impact on the town.

The order gives police and community support officers the power to order a group of two or more people away from an area if they believe people are committing, or will commit, an offence.

The force also asked the public to help by reporting any antisocial behaviour or criminal activity they see in the area.
