An 81-year-old woman has died three weeks after a crash in Aberdeenshire on New Year's Day.

Alma Duguid, from the Fraserburgh area, had been taken to hospital after the two-vehicle collision on the A952 near Toll of Birness.

Police Scotland said she died in hospital on Wednesday.

Two other women, aged 20 and 51, had also been taken to hospital with serious injuries, and were released following treatment.

Police said the crash happened at about 13:05 on Thursday 1 January and involved a blue Volkswagen T-Roc and a white Suzuki Ignis.

Sgt Sarah Ritchie said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Alma.

"Our inquiries remain ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash to please contact us.

"We'd also ask anyone who may have dash-cam footage of relevance to come forward as this may be significant."
