A man has denied killing a woman in a suspected assault.

Lisa Denton, 40 and from North Shields, died in hospital a day after being injured in an alleged altercation on the town's Russell Street on 24 January.

Liam Moor, 19, pleaded not guilty to manslaughter when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court.

He was released on bail with a trial due to start on 14 September.
