A tent that was set alight was done so "deliberately", fire crews believe.

An arson investigation is under way after the burning tent was discovered in Clarence Square in Cheltenham at about 20:30 GMT on 19 March.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said nobody was injured during the incident but its investigation is ongoing.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about it.

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to Clarence Square with reports of a tent on fire at 20:18 GMT.

"One fire engine was sent to the scene and the crew extinguished the fire," a spokesperson said, adding nobody was injured.

Police said the fire crews were under the impression the fire was started on purpose.
