The A18 Mountain Road has re-opened after a five day closure

A major route connecting the Manx capital with the north has re-opened after snow caused a four-day closure.

The A18 Mountain Road was placed under an emergency closure on Sunday morning due to deteriorating weather conditions and following a crash on the road.

But the Department of Infrastructure, which had extended the closure for three days, has now fully re-opened the route.

The island faced severe travel disruption due to snow and ice on Monday.
