Fire crews tackle woodland blazes near city
Martin Giles/BBCFire crews are tackling two blazes in an area of woodland near a city.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was dealing with two separate fires in Thorpe St Andrew, near Norwich, on a patch of land known as the Belmore Plantation.
Crews from Carrow, Sprowston, Earlham, Wroxham, a response vehicle from Wymondham and a water carrier from Hethersett are at the incidents.
A fire near Pound Lane has been extinguished. A second, larger fire covers an area of about 200m by 200m (656ft by 656ft).
The fire service said it was "likely to have a presence on scene for some time".
It has thanked people who raised the alarm for their vigilance.
Norfolk Police said Plumstead Road East has been closed. The force has urged people to avoid the area.
