A £250,000 revamp is being carried out to play areas across a Loughborough estate.

Three playgrounds and the Milton Court MUGA in the Warwick Way area would be modernised with water-resistant surfacing, new play panels and repainted fencing and gates "over the coming months", said owner Charnwood Borough Council.

The play areas, at Warwick Court, Epinal Court and Matthew Arnold Court, will also see new equipment installed including swings, stepping stones, agility trails, balance beams, and climbing frames.

Open spaces councillor Anne Gray said the results would be "modern and stylish" and for children "of all ages and abilities".

"The more spaces we have for families to enjoy, the better for the community," she added.

The programme of upgrades follows the start of installations at the town's Queens Park.

The £500,000 programme at the town centre park has seen work begin on outdoor gym equipment, a zip line and a five-way swing.

Following this work, the children's play area will be shut from February to be upgraded with new equipment including a sensory dome, trampoline and a wheelchair carousel.
