The sun peeking through the snow on a crisp November morning

As the big day draws closer, some of us may be wishing for snow on Christmas morning.

A white Christmas can be a rare sight but temperatures are set to plummet over the festive season across the North East and Cumbria, according to the Met Office.

Whether or not we get snow, here is a reminder of how beautiful the region can be captured in these winter scenes when the flakes fall.
