Fourth arrest after gun fired at parked car

A fourth person has been arrested after an unoccupied parked car was shot at in York.

The incident happened on Starkey Crescent, in the Tang Hall area of the city, at about 21:25 GMT last Saturday.

CCTV footage showed a suspect firing a weapon towards a car before fleeing the scene on foot, according to North Yorkshire Police. No injuries were reported.

Officers said a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a certificate and criminal damage. He remains in police custody.

Three people have previously been arrested in connection with the incident - two men, aged 34 and 32, and a 29-year-old woman.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and criminal damage, while the 32-year-old was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

The 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Officers said the shooting was believed to be a targeted incident with "no wider risk to the community".

They added that the investigation was progressing and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
