Three arrested after gun fired at parked car

Three people have been arrested after an unoccupied parked car was shot at in York.

The incident happened on Starkey Crescent, in the Tang Hall area of the city, at about 21:25 GMT on Saturday.

CCTV footage showed a suspect firing a weapon towards a car before fleeing the scene on foot, according to North Yorkshire Police. No injuries were reported.

Officers said two men, aged 34 and 32, and a 29-year-old woman had been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Extensive searches were carried out by teams including armed firearms officers to track down anyone connected to the incident, a force spokesperson said.

Officers added that the shooting was believed to be a targeted incident with "no wider risk to the community".

A scene remained in place on Tang Hall cycle track, the spokesperson said.

The 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and criminal damage, while the 32-year-old was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

The 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police said they were still hunting for one other suspect and asked anyone with information to get in touch.
