A woman is to run 100 miles to raise money in honour of her nephew who was born with life threatening heart conditions.

Laura Chapman, from Rugby in Warwickshire, will take part in the Ultra Marathon challenge, running from Cannock in Staffordshire to the Cotswolds, during British Heart Week in June.

Money raised will go to Birmingham Children's Hospital, which looked after her nephew Darragh, when he was born with half a functioning heart.

At the age of five he has already had three open heart surgeries said his aunt, adding there was no stopping him now.

Chapman began training for the challenge in June last year.

The 100 mile trail will take her from Milford Common, near Cannock, and will finish at Bourton-on-the-Water.

The aunt said she felt grateful for the team at Birmingham Children's Hospital after Darragh recovered "wonderfully" following his third open heart surgery in Mary last year.

She added: "If you can't be inspired by a situation like Darragh's - that's what moves you forward.

"Its just an amazing opportunity to say thank you to all the superheroes who give him and all the heart warriors that pop to have a life fulfilled.

"How can you not be grateful for that."
