Work starts on £4.5m school improvement project

Work has started on a £4.5m project to improve a special educational needs school in Hereford.

The development at The Brookfield School will see the construction of a new sports hall and a teaching block, alongside alterations to the teaching facilities.

An official turf-cutting ceremony was recently held at the school to celebrate the project.

Herefordshire Council said the project reflected its commitment to providing high-quality education for children with special educational needs and disabilities (Send).

Head Teacher Michelle Parkes said it was an "exciting period" for the school.

"This significant investment means that our wonderful pupils will get an enriched curriculum offer, as well as access to better breakout and play facilities," she added.

The work is due to be completed in time for the new intake of students in September 2025.
