Rob Thomas has been dismissed by Hereford charity Vennture

A charity's CEO has been dismissed following an independent investigation into allegations of bullying.

In a public statement, Hereford-based Vennture, a charity "dedicated to helping people in difficult situations", said Rob Thomas had been sacked with immediate effect.

Chair of Trustees Paul Ballard said: "The investigation found behaviour that fell below the standards we expect within our charity." He apologised for "harm caused".

Thomas provided no comment when he was contacted by the BBC.

Ballard said: "As trustees, we have a responsibility to act when [our] standards are not met.

"We are grateful to those who came forward during the investigation, and we apologise unreservedly to the individual affected for the harm caused.

"Our priority now is to ensure that our workplace reflects the standards we expect of everyone involved in the charity."

The former CEO has the right to appeal the decision.
