A new series of bus services will deliver improved "connectivity" between towns in the west and south of a county.

West Northamptonshire Council has launched the X88 service which operates between Brackley, Silverstone, Towcester and Northampton on a direct, limited-stop route.

The existing 88 will be extended to Brackley, replacing the 87 between Brackley and Towcester. Some journeys will also serve Silverstone Business Park and Syresham.

The initiative is part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan, delivered through a partnership between the council, Silverstone Park MEPC, Stagecoach Midlands and the Department for Transport.

Councillor Richard Butler, from the Reform UK-led local authority said: "[The new services] deliver more journey options and times and better connectivity to key destinations such as schools, workplaces, leisure facilities and health services."

Mark Whitelocks, Stagecoach Midlands' managing director, added: "These service improvements will provide customers with better connectivity and more reliable journeys."
