Hundreds of homes in parts of a county were without power during the early morning due to a fault on high voltage power lines.

In and around Oundle in Northamptonshire, about 800 properties were affected, while in the south of the county more than 300 homes had no electricity around Helmdon, near Brackley.

Both incidents occurred at about 07:15 GMT and lasted about a couple of hours.

However, 22 properties in the Oundle area were still affected at lunchtime, according to National Grid.
