Police were called to Keepers Road in Devizes, Wiltshire, on Thursday

A woman is being questioned by police as part of a murder investigation after a woman in her 80s was found dead at a flat on Christmas Day.

Police were called to the flat in Keepers Road, Devizes, Wiltshire, at about 08:10 GMT on 25 December after reports of a serious assault.

Despite efforts from the South Western Ambulance Service, police confirmed that the victim died at the scene.

Wiltshire Police confirmed a 63-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of murder, was being questioned after being discharged from hospital where she was being treated for injuries that were not thought to be life-changing.

Police said the woman was known to the victim and they were not looking for anybody else in connection with the death.

A cordon was put up in Keepers Road but has since been lifted.
