Nearly 90 drivers caught speeding in under an hour
GoogleDozens of drivers were caught speeding in just 50 minutes on the same road during a police operation.
Wiltshire Police said it clocked 88 drivers breaking the 30mph speed limit outside Holy Cross Primary School on Queens Drive, Swindon, between 10:30 and 11:25 GMT on Friday.
The fastest driver was registered at 58mph on the stretch of road, nearly double the speed limit.
The force said 77 drivers will be offered a speed awareness course, nine will face fines and points and two face court appearances.
Sarah Holden, Wiltshire Police's Road Safety Supervisor said: "Over the Christmas period, our civilian speed enforcement officers have continued with their regular speed checks across the county in a bid to target those drivers who think they are above the law and subsequently keep our roads safe.
"Speeding remains one of the biggest causes of serious and fatal collisions on our roads.
"It is quite frankly shocking to see the speed that some of these drivers are reaching in 30mph limit areas.
"The speed limit is there for a reason – to keep you and those around you safe."
