Severn Trent thanked residents for their patience after the hole opened up on Lower Street in Wolverhampton

A burst water pipe that caused a large hole in the road to open up in Wolverhampton, has now been repaired.

Severn Trent said the pipe has been fixed on Lower Street but the road will remain closed, as a large portion of it needs to be repaired.

The council said Lower Street was shut on Tuesday to both traffic and pedestrians from Tettenhall Road to Lower Green, with diversions put in place.

Severn Trent said it was aiming to get the road back to normal "as quickly as possible" and thanked "everyone for their continued patience while this is ongoing".
