New home is golden ticket for kitten Willa Wonka
Cats ProtectionA kitten injured in a suspected dog attack has been found a new home after being nursed back to health.
The two-week old cat was taken to a vets in Spalding after being found with a head injury by a member of the public.
After treatment the kitten went to the local Cats Protection centre where she was named Willa Wonka after her injuries "left her with a wonky-looking face", Griselda Winn, coordinator at the Stamford and District centre, said.
"Willa's injury was horrific," Ms Winn said, adding her survival was "touch and go".
"But she is a fighter, and she eventually started eating and was able to walk on her own," she said.
"However, she couldn't blink properly, needing eye drops throughout the day and we thought she would need an owner to do this for the rest of her life."
She added that after her wounds healed the eye drops were no longer needed.
Now 17 weeks old, she has been adopted by a local family.
"With cases like Willa, the whole team becomes invested in getting them healthy again," Ms Winn said.
"We are delighted that Willa has overcome her early trauma and is settling into her new home. We wish her and her family all the best for their future together."
