A fire at a building contractor that caused an estimated £1m of damage is being treated as arson by police.

The fire started in the early hours of Saturday at Mamo Building Services on the Ballyards Road in Milford, County Armagh.

At the height of the blaze about 50 firefighters were at the scene.

Inspector Walker from the Police Service of Northern Ireland said when officers investigated after the fire was put out they discovered it had been started deliberately.

Police remain at the scene and an arson investigation has been launched.

On Saturday one of the managers at the company told BBC News NI there was more than £1m of damage including stock, equipment, vehicles and damage to buildings.

He said a collection of vintage tractors had also been destroyed.
