Artists will compete for the prize by painting murals on doors along the high street

A £1,000 cash prize has been put up for a planned doorway art mural competition in Cornwall.

Newquay Business Improvement District (BID) announced it as phase two of the Newquay Street Art Walking Tour, which has seen murals created around the town.

It is looking for at least 20 businesses to volunteer a door to be painted - with the permission of the landlord or building owner.

The BID said while artwork inspired by Newquay's coastline, surf culture, heritage and independent spirit was welcomed, artists will be given genuine artistic licence. Registrations for artists and doors are open and due to close on 15 March.
