Prolific burglar and thief sent to prison
Cambridgeshire ConstabularyA man has been jailed for three years and four months after pleading guilty to a string of burglaries and thefts.
Lee Edwards, 40, from Fletton, was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday after admitting three burglaries, two vehicle thefts and the theft of a cycle.
Following offences over the course of several weeks last year, Edwards was arrested in Orchard Street, Fletton, on 13 June, after being identified through CCTV and forensic evidence.
PC Luke Blakey, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: "Edwards is a prolific thief and burglar who causes misery for people and businesses in Peterborough, and clearly hasn't learnt his lesson from his previous convictions."
The first of the offences saw him break into a house in Woodston on 29 April last year and steal a handbag containing bank cards, a laptop and glasses before taking a Hyundai i30 from the drive. The car was later found abandoned.
On 9 May, Edwards burgled a house in Brewster Avenue, Woodston, and stole a Honda motorbike before he broke in to a building site on London Road on 13 May, taking copper piping, tools and cabling.
On 29 May, he stole a Carrera bike from a garage on Clement Drive, Woodston, and stole another bike on 5 June.
