Rapist given 10 years for attacks on two women
Cambridgeshire ConstabularyA rapist has been jailed for 10 years after attacking two women.
Jakob Ireson, 31, of Sandringham Road, Walton, Peterborough, was found guilty last August of raping a woman in the city in October 2023.
Cambridgeshire Police said he attended a home for drinks and made unwanted advances towards her, later returning to the property to rape her in her sleep.
He was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday to eight years in prison for that offence. He was handed a further two-year term for offences relating to his former partner.
Police said they received a 999 call in March last year while Ireson was on bail after he let himself into the home of his ex-partner, despite being subject to an 18-year restraining order prohibiting him from going there.
Ireson was said to have become verbally abusive before he punched the woman in the face several times, threw her phone at the television, and strangled her for about 30 seconds, leaving her with facial injuries.
He pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, harassment by breaching a restraining order and two counts of criminal damage, all relating to that attack.
The sentences will run consecutively.
Det Con Kara Halls said: "Ireson's actions were violent, predatory, and showed a complete disregard for the safety and wellbeing of the women involved.
"The bravery of the victims in coming forward has ensured he is now behind bars and unable to harm anyone else."
