Surrey Police said the dispersal order in Staines was in force until 11:00 GMT on Monday

A dispersal order has been put in place in Surrey town in an attempt to deter criminal or anti-social behaviour.

Surrey Police said the dispersal order in Staines, in force until 11:00 GMT on Monday, covers Lammas Park, High Street, Two Rivers, Elmsleigh Centre, plus up to and including the train station.

It gives police officers, or community support officers, the power to order a group of two or more people away from an area if they are committing, of if police believe they will commit, an offence.

Surrey Police said its officers would be patrolling the area in which the dispersal order is in place over the weekend.

The force also asked the public for help by reporting any anti-social behaviour or criminal activity they see in the area.

On 8 March, a stabbing took place in Staines high street, where a teenage boy was seriously injured.

Surrey Police has arrested four people after the incident, three of whom remain in police custody.

Anyone who has any information in relation to that incident is being asked to contact the force.
