Tyler Bradley and Wayne Boyd were found guilty of attempted murder

Four young men who stabbed a teenage boy 16 times with a machete and left him fighting for his life have been jailed.

Tyler Bradley, Wayne Boyd, Leon Keenan and Kaya Azhar chased the boy through Hemlington in Middlesbrough during the early hours of 30 April 2025.

CCTV footage showed the boy jumped over garden fences and balconies as he desperately tried to get away.

Judge Francis Laird told Teesside Crown Court it was "a truly horrific and brutal attack on a defenceless boy and he was fortunate to escape with his life".

Despite suffering significant injuries, the 17-year-old managed to drag himself over a fence and on to Hemlington Hall Road, where residents heard his screams.

They shouted at his attackers to stop and provided medical help before the emergency services arrived.

Detectives said their "quick actions" gave the victim the best chance of survival, although he is still recovering from his injuries.
