A partially-sighted bulldog has been rescued by a lifeboat crew after falling into a river.

The RNLI said the crew, from Looe, in Cornwall, launched to the aid of Roxy who had fallen into the river opposite the station on Monday.

Roxy and her owner Liam had "lost their footing" while on a walk before the dog fell into the river, a spokesperson said.

"Liam was relieved to find Roxy was uninjured as she had a softer landing in water, missing the rocks that were being exposed as the tide fell," they said.

The spokesperson said the dog's owner thanked the crew and "members of the public who raised the alarm" and passed a life ring to him.
