Steps down to a popular Isle of Wight Beach are set to close for repairs following a recent coastal landslip and erosion.

Isle of Wight Council said the wooden set of steps down to Compton Beach next to the main National Trust car park had buckled and shifted.

The council said the work was being carried out to avoid a longer closure and ensure the steps were safe to use for the Easter holidays.

The steps will be shut for a week from Monday for work to line them up again. During the repairs, some path closure will be in place and Compton Bay will only be accessible at the northern end by Compton Farm/Chine.
